Sky1 To Simulcast Lost Series Finale

The Geeky Girls will have alarms set for 4.45am next Monday as Sky1 has announced it will be airing the epic two-hour Lost finale at 5am in simulcast with the US transmission.

The double-length episode, aptly titled The End, will FINALLY give us closure on the many mysteries that show bosses Team Darlton have teased us with since the series first hit screens in 2004.

Sky1's director of programmes Stuart Murphy said: "We are proud of the fact that at Sky1 HD we have a long tradition of running all of our US shows as close as possible to their US transmission date.

"With something as hotly anticipated as the Lost finale, it makes sense to show it at exactly the same time as millions across America will see it."

We can't wait.

Lost Bosses Promise Emotional Finale

Looks like we'll need to have a box of tissues at the ready for next week's Lost finale, and not for any sordid reason. Show bosses Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have promised that the episode is a blub-fest, saying: "If you do not cry, we have failed you miserably. I think we'll leave it at that."

We'll see, Team Darlton, we'll see. At least two of the three GGs are not easy weepers, though admittedly the other one (the one writing this story, in fact) is an emotional wreck and will doubtless be blubbing from the beginning.

The pair also had a laugh attempting to estimate the percentage of fans who'll be happy with the show's ending. "I think that 80% of the people will be 100% satisfied," Lindelof said. "20% of the people will be 60% satisfied."

Cuse added: "I actually think there's going to be 10% of the people that are going to be 90% satisfied and about 70% of the people that will be 85% satisfied. And of course there's always that 10, 15% of people that will be 15 or 10% satisfied. I mean, those are approximations. Those aren't precise statistics."

Is anyone else disappointed, miffed even, that they're not aiming for 100%?

In other Lost news, Team Darlton have ruled out the option of making a follow-up movie. Boo.

Lost star Pellegrino claims questions will be answered

Well hallelujah and praise be. It seems our prayers might just have been answered.

Lost actor Mark Pellegrino has claimed that the show's upcoming finale will give us closure on at least some of those burning questions we've had since the very beginning of the series.

Mark, who plays the island's enigmatic caretaker Jacob, told TV Guide: "There will be some ends tied, but I can't guarantee that for everyone," he said. "People have been debating the meaning of the show and the various subplots for years and I wonder if all the questions are going to be answered. That's a tall order, but I think many people will be satisfied."

Hmm… we're guessing we're never going to find out what happened to that damn polar bear.

Friday's episode, titled Across The Sea, puts the Losties on the backburner in favour of exploring the island's past - including the relationship between Jacob and The Man In Black.

But Mark admitted that the episode shows a darker side to Jacob, who we've always assumed to be (to quote Jason Stackhouse) on the side of the light.

"On a certain level, the line between good and evil has an indistinctive blurring," he said. "I think there's a lot of crossover in the show. That doesn't necessarily mean that I'm not good, though. Things will become clearer in the next episode, definitely. I think you'll make up your mind one way or the other for sure, but it's not going to be clean and pristine. You'll definitely come down on one side or the other."

Well that's as clear as mud.

Lost Spoilers: Jack Confronts Flocke

It might still be frustrating the bejaysus out of us, but with only four new episodes left until the Lost finale double-bill, we're getting excited about where this season is headed.

Next Friday's episode, The Last Recruit, sees Jack face-off against Flocke in a confrontation we've been waiting for for weeks.

And that's not the only important conversation on the cards as alliances will be forged and broken as the camps merge - Sawyer is set to reveal his plan and Jack will confront his crazy half-sister Claire.

Check out this sneak peek.

Garcia Teases Lost "Turning Point"

Lost actor Jorge Garcia has hinted that the next episode of Lost, titled Everybody Loves Hugo, marks a turning point for the show.

"There's definitely a turning point about to happen," he told the Los Angeles Times.

"Right around the middle of the season, all those deja vu moments in the sideways timeline, you'll see stuff come to a head and the whole season turns a corner. And stuff really gets interesting."

The episode centers on Hurley but Garcia hinted that his character may have problems ahead.

"This new episode shows that everything seems great for Hurley," he said. "But maybe not everything's great."

Meanwhile, Henry Ian Cusick has confirmed that his character Desmond will be seen again before the show ends - both on and off the island.

"I certainly turn up again," he confirmed to The ODI. "We have five or six episodes and I turn up again both on the island and in the flash-sideways.

"It's spotted all over the place - there's not gonna be another Happily Ever After. Obviously, that was my centric episode and there are other characters that will step up and you'll see what they have to do to get where we have to get to."

He added: "It's not gonna be about one character, but all of us."

Michelle Rodriguez Confirmed For Lost Return

Lost sources have confirmed that Fast And Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez is set to return for the show's sixth and final season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

She'll reprise the role of tailie Ana-Lucia, who was killed off in season two but made a brief return in one of Hurley's hallucinations in season five.

There's no word yet on where, when or how Michelle's comeback will happen, but fans are already speculating that it'll take place off the Island in one of the series' flash-sideways scenes.

Other cast members who are set to appear in season six include Maggie Grace as Shannon, Harold Perrineau as Michael, Cynthia Watros as Libby, Rebecca Mader as Charlotte, Ian Somerhalder as Boone and Dominic Monaghan as Charlie.

Funny Lost feature on the Onion News Network - Tehe!

The Geeky Girls remember when Lost was *the* buzz word on every body’s lips. But then as the series went on and the questions far out-weighed the answers, people rebelliously begun to switch off.

We stumbled over this hilarious Lost segment in the satirical Onion News Network show on HBO. We thought all you Lost rebels (and Lost fans with a sense of humour) would get a kick and a chuckle out of this – it’s pretty spot on!

Lost Sneak Preview

The Geeky Girls have got our grubby little mitts on a sneak preview of the next episode of Lost, The Substitute.

Check out the clip below, in which Fake Locke - or Flocke, as he shall hereafter be known - tries to convince a skeptical Sawyer that he has the answer to the ultimate question.

Hmm... sounds a bit dodgy to us.

Lost the Plot

The sixth and final series (we thought it would never end!) is finally gracing our screens. Can you believe it's been six long years since Oceanic flight 815 crash landed into the island?!  It was exciting, exhilirating and we were quite frankly hooked and bordering on obsessed from the beginning.

Now, we don't know about you but we have some serious questions that we want answered and if it doesn't happen the geeky girls will not be happy.
Can we expect all questions to be answered?

  • Who or what is Jacob? Is Jacob God? Does he rule more than just the island? Does he rule time itself? This could be the most important question of all...!
  • Are Charlie and Boon really dead? We saw them die but do we believe it? Will they be making a return in the last season? Our inside sources say that we haven't seen the last of these two...
  • What and where is the Island? - Obviously it's a magical island but we're not entirely sure what the island is, where it is, why it exists and if it rules the likes of Kate, Sawyer, Jack et. al...!?
  • What do the numbers mean? The sequence of numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 are seemingly random but they crop up again and again - Hurley's lottery numbers, the numbers that have to be punched in on a regular basis or the island will be destroyed, the list goes on...
  • What really happened to Claire? She vanished never to be seen again, but is she still out there? Has she joined 'the others'? Will she be making an apperance this series? We hope so
  • Why were the original islanders 'selected'? - it's surely not random that Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Jack, Locke et. al were selected to crash land on the island - especially when they were sent back there the second time to complete the island. But why?!
  • What is the smoke monster all about? The eerie mist that seems to consume the island at the most inopportune times - why?!
  • What has happened to Locke? We were as suprised as you when Locke apparently rose from the dead. We were even more surprised when he calmy told Ben to kill Jacob. So who the heck is Locke now? The most likely is answer is Jacob's nemesis; the man in black/the smoke monster. But exactly who is that?!
As Lost makes its final voyage we are hoping that it satisfies us...or that will have all been a fantastic waste of time!! : )

"Amazing Twists" Ahead For Lost

Lost actor Nestor Carbonell has revealed that there are "amazing twists" coming up for the final season.

Nestor, who plays guy-liner fan Richard Alpert on the series, revealed that he was "floored" when he got the script for an upcoming Richard-centric episode.

"We have gotten to that point where there is an episode that deals with the origins of Richard Alpert and the bigger questions about his character, as well as bigger questions about the island and the mythology of it," he told TV Guide.

"After three years playing this character, I was floored when I got the script and I was so excited to actually get to do the episode. They wrote a really tremendous script."

Nestor went on to explain that he has played aspects of Richard that he never thought he would get to explore.

"There are going to be emotional highs and lows for people that you've never seen. With respect to alliances, there's going to be a lot of movement and fluctuations. There will be loyalty, but there's going to be a lot of shifting and power struggle, which is always at play.

"Everyone's mettle is tested in this final season. It's the payoff season where all of those loose ends, or most of them, will be tied. A lot of those big conflicts will be resolved."

Possibly The Funniest Lost Spoof We've Ever Seen!

The world seems to have gone Lost crazy ahead of the season six premiere this Friday. But amid the various cast interviews, fan theories and spoilers (which we're diligently avoiding, for once) doing the rounds on the interweb is this excellent spoof from the Reduced Shakespeare Company.

The faux-thespians appeared at a special Sky1 event last week to mark the return of Lost with a special, one-off performance which condensed five whole seasons of the show into just 10 minutes. The Geeky Girls were there, and we were laughing our socks off.

Check out the hilarious performance below.

Five Resolutions For 2010

Join a gym; stop biting nails; stop spending, start saving; actually read one of the classic novels we claim to be an expert on; and write a journal are all former failed New Year's resolutions of the Geeky Girls.

But this year is going to be different. This year, we're coming up with a list of resolutions we actually want to keep. And we reckon you might be up for keeping a couple of them too.

1. Get a new Doctor...
New Doctor Who Matt Smith made his debut in the Tardis on New Year's day, but opinion on
whether the nation will take him to our bosom in the same way we did David Tennant is still divided. In our humble opinion, the time is right for a new doc.

His unfortunate catchphrase ("geronimooo") aside, we were mightily impressed by Matt's first few minutes on screen. He's energetic, funny and just the right side of weird. Bring on Doctor Who series 5 (BBC1: Spring).

2. Pick a side...
The never-ending Twi-hard dilemma has long been discussed at GG HQ, but we reckon it's time we decided which way we swing.

So which will it be? Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Edward might have had us from "trust me", but never did a lady have a fictional suitor so devoted as Jacob Black. All in all, it's a nice choice to have. Smouldering, romantic, gentleman vampire versus hot, funny and spontaneous werewolf.

Oh who are we kidding? We're never going to be able to make this choice, but perhaps Eclipse (coming to a cinema near you in July) will help us to make up our minds. After the Edward-centric Twilight and the Jacob-focussed New Moon, this film should be a fair fight.

3. Find the strength to carry on...

As ladies, we reserve the right to be flighty on occasion and change our minds whenever the fancy takes us. But sometimes, it's character building to stick with something until the bitter end.

And 2010 could mark the beginning of the end for sci-fi fan favourite Heroes, a show which started with so much promise but sadly recently declined into a garbled jumble of gobbledegook made tolerable only by Zachary Quinto's compelling performance as super-powered psycho, Sylar.

Industry insiders reckon the show's fifth 'chapter' Redemption (BBC2: Sat 9 Jan, 10pm) will be it's finale, saying: "Everyone is expecting this to be the last season. The cast, the crew, everyone." So we're crossing our fingers and hoping desperately that the series will return to its former glory and go out with a big bang.

4. Get Lost...
Lost is another show that the Geeky Gi
rls have had a bittersweet relationship with. But this year, as the show reaches it's (presumably epic) conclusion, we're determined to get it.

Who is Jacob? What is the island? Is Locke the second coming? Will Kate choose Jack or Sawyer?

Mark our words sci fi fans, there will be no big question marks hanging over our heads by the time season 6 (Sky1: Feb) is done. Even if we have to threaten Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse with actual bodily harm.

Oh yeah, we mean it.

5. Jump on the vamp-wagon...

Ok, as Buffy experts, True Blood aficionados and near-obsessive Twi-hards it's not like the vampire phenomenon is new to us. But since Twilight took over the world 2010 is set to be a vintage year for vamp-fans.

Described as a cross between Blade and 28 Days Later, vampire thriller Daybreakers starring Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke has achieved impressive reviews for its new take on an ancient story.

On the small screen, huge US hit The Vampire Diaries comes to the UK at the end of this month (ITV2: Sun 24 Jan, 9pm). A sexy cast (Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Lost alumni Ian Somerhalder) and a Twilight-alike plotline mean we'll definitely be tuning in.

And last, but certainly not least, we're pleased to have the Beeb's excellent Being Human back on our screens (BBC3: Sun 10 Jan, 9.30pm). We're not cheating, there's a vampire in it, and the delicious Aidan Turner has promised that series two will be darker as the threesome try to make their way in the human world.

The Lost Underground Art Project

Attention all Lost fans! (Well... those seeking season 6 clues anyway).

The Lost Underground Art Project is, as the name suggests, a Lost-inspired art initiative. Created by 16 professional poster artists who also happen to be Lost aficionados, the exhibition showcases a collection of posters that depict a classic scene from the show - you know, the plane crash (see right) and... other stuff.

Still with us? Now... on to the interesting bit.

Lost bosses Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have rewarded hard-working spoiler hunters by planting a few teasers and hints in and around the interweb - including a specially designed poster containing two season six teases within the LUAP collection.

"We don't want to spoil the new season," said Carlton. "But we also knew we couldn't do absolutely nothing. So we're going to be releasing some teases, but in a way where you have to seek them out, and won't be spoiled if you don't want to be spoiled."

For those who - like us - get overexcited at even the tiniest scraps of information, the poster has hit the web here: nothingsforever.com

Take a look if you dare, and if you spot the teases please let us know. We've been staring at the damn thing for hours and still can't figure it out.

New Lost Season 6 Pics Released!

After a ridiculously long wait, Lost will return for it's final season in February 2010.

While we wait to find out if we'll finally get some answers, the kind bods at Sky1 have released some teaser pics to keep us going:

http://sky1.sky.com/lost-season-6-brand-new-cast-pics

Meanwhile, word has reached GG♥SF that a major character is set to meet their maker. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the show's producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse described writing the character out as "really painful".

"As the story is now nearing its conclusion, some characters just aren't going make it all the way to the end," Cuse said. "Even beloved characters aren't going make it all the way to the end.

"And sometimes we have to do things that are really painful, like killing Juliet, because that’s what makes the story feel like the stakes are genuine, and people feel invested that characters who are beloved can actually perish on our show."

So who'll kick the bucket? Our money's on Sawyer going out in a blaze of glory...
