Reasons to be fearful, 1,2, V!

There's always going to be an element of scepticism when hearing that a 1980's classic has been re-made. However the new series of V (Tuesday 10pm on Scyfy) certainly does not dissappoint.

If you haven't heard anything about the show yet, here's a quick plot synopsis to get you up to speed:

The V's (Visitors) have just arrived on planet Earth. They have seemingly good intentions and are apparently willing to live in peace and harmony with the human race. However, as the show progresses it is revealed that the V's have in fact been living among society for many years and their intentions aren't as good as at first thought.

Here's a small taster of the characters and the aspects that we like about the show so far:
Characters:

Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell, Lost) is a gritty, hard nosed agent who knows what she wants. She's immediately suspicous about the V's real intentions and she's not afraid to investigate. We have a bit of a girl crush on Mitchell - love her.

Anna (Morena Baccarin). So far the main face of the V's. She's beautiful and manipulative. She knows how to get what she wants. She understands the human culture and uses it fully to her advantage by using her female powers of persuasion. She scares the hell out of us with those eyes.

Chad Decker (Scott Wolf, Party of Five). He's a moral journalist (they exist folks, come on!) who wants to broadcast a two-sided debate about the V's, to the evident frustration of the V's. We're suspecing he may get in trouble with the V's in due course.

Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut). He's an undercover V who has been on earth for many years. It seems that he is one of the "Good Guys" and he is trying to stop the V's (although we're not sure what the V's are up to yet!).

Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch). An unsuspecting priest who has been thrown into knowing a lot more than he wanted to about the Visitors. He may well team up with Erica to uncover more about the V's real intentions. But he may need to grow some bigger balls first - we're just saying.

Tyler Evans (Logan Huffman). Son of Erica with an unhealthy obsession with the V's. He's joined up to be an advocate of the Visitors and is drawn in and fascinated by their looks and attitude. He can't understand why his mum is telling him to stay away from them.

Top Five best aspects:

1. The CGI. We weren't expecting much seeing as V has been quite under publicised - we asssumed that maybe it was a low budget sci-fi show. But oh no, those Americans would never do that to us. Especially on ScyFy HD; from the spaceships to the gory revelations under the V's skin, the special effects are awe-some.

2. The banter, "who's a V?". When watching the show, it became apparent that we are not going to know who is and who isn't a V for some time. And that's the fun! Guessing who might be a V. They look the same, sound the same. The only way to tell as far as we know is by cutting the skin to see if there is lizard skin lurking beneath the surface.

3. The fast moving pace. Considering we've only seen two episodes so far, quite a lot has been revealed. Lots of questions have been raised and we're looking forward to finding out the answers.

4. The relationships. There are already some interesting relationships being formed. Between Anna and Chad in particular. Will they be arch enemies or lovers? We're not so keen on the teen romance though.

5. The intrigue. Why are the V's here? What do they want? As the show progresses we're sure we'll understand more about what the V's are after, but for now we're loving the intrigue.
